Ashland citizens will participate in the Global Strike for Climate Action on September 20.

On September 20th, millions of people of all ages around the world will walk out of their classes, jobs, and homes as part of a Global Climate Strike. Taking place three days before the UN Climate Action Summit in NYC, it’s destined to be the largest worldwide event ever as global citizens unite to call for climate action now, followed by a week of sustained climate action from September 20-27.

Youth-led School Walkouts: Walkouts are planned to start at 10:30 am with a rally at the Ashland Plaza from 11 - noon.

Unite for Climate Action: Scheduled for noon - 3:45 pm, Butler Bandshell in Lithia Park, Ashland immediately following the Ashland Plaza youth rally. This is an all-ages community climate-action picnic and a day of joy and solidarity. Under the creative direction of Barret O’Brien, enjoy music, uplifting presentations, poetry, group art, spiritual centering for climate healing, and info on opportunities to take personal and collective action.

This application is for tabling in the Bandshell area from noon - 3:45 pm. Tables are expected to provide information on opportunities to take personal and collective action to create a sustainable future and advocate for climate action.
