Animal Harbor Foster Application
Thank you for your interest in the Animal Harbor Foster Program! This foster application is for those willing
to commit to housing a pet for a time determined by Animal Harbor, or until the pet is adopted into its
forever home. The foster program provides temporary housing for an adoptable animal when the shelter is
at maximum capacity, for underage pets not old enough for adoption, or for animals needing extra care,
socialization or obedience training. Before becoming a foster parent, there are some things you need to
know and consider, as well as agree to:

1) Foster parent will be responsible for bringing the animal to the shelter for meet and greets with
potential adopters, at an appointed time determined by Animal Harbor and the adopter.

2) The foster parent will report any health or medical problems to Animal Harbor when observed.
Animal Harbor will make arrangements for the animal to be seen by an approved veterinarian at no
cost to the foster parent. The foster parent agrees to be responsible for any out of pocket expenses
incurred if you seek veterinary services from your personal veterinarian.

3) The pet is required to remain in the foster parent’s custody at all times. The foster parent is NOT
permitted to release any foster animals from their care without permission from Animal Harbor. The
foster parent is NOT permitted to alter the animal in any way (ex. declawing).

4) Animal Harbor will provide pet food, supplies and other necessities to the foster parent for the
animal at no cost.

5) A veterinary reference check of potential foster parent will be performed before application
approval, a home inspection may be performed at the discretion of Animal Harbor.

6) All personal animals in foster parent’s home must be up-to-date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered.

7) Foster parent will not hold Animal Harbor responsible for any damage, injury or harm caused
directly or indirectly by any pets fostered for Animal Harbor.

8) The foster may recommend potential adopters, but the potential adopter must still go through
Animal Harbor's adoption process and be approved to adopt. Under no circumstances, can a foster
adopt an animal out of their home without Animal Harbor’s approval.

All statements/requirements must be understood and agreed to before moving forward in the foster
application process. Animal Harbor wants to ensure that foster volunteers have the necessary expertise
and ability to care for the animals, and that we have the necessary information to place the right pet with
the right volunteer.
