Responses to the diocesan phase of the Universal Synod have closed.

The advertised deadline for responses was 17th March 2022.

Having conducted this consultation and listening, and after hosting a Synodal gathering to synthesise the fruits of this consultation, this diocese will submit our Synodal document to the Irish Bishops’ Conference on the Feast of the Ascension (29th May 2022). You will have an opportunity to view this synthesis.

In August 2022, the Irish Catholic Church will submit a complied response from each diocese to the Holy See in Rome to prepare for the Universal Synod in 2023.

Next steps:

From August 2022 to September 2023, the Irish Church will continue consultation and preparations for its own Synodal Assembly or Assemblies. The fruits of the Universal phase (described above) will be gleaned and further prayer, consultation and listening will occur within the Irish Church.
