Invasive Species Citizen Science Workshop:  Tuesday, May 14th 4pm-6pm  in room 144 @ Indian River Middle School located at 32735, County Rd 29, Philadelphia, NY 13673.

The workshop will cover a school-based hands-on Invasive Species Curricula, developed by the Department of Environmental Conservation, that can be incorporated into the classroom or into other educational programs. Other invasive species education resources & an opportunity to collaborate with local environmental educators will be available.

The DEC Invasive Species Curricula is aligned to the New York State P-12 Learning Standards & is geared towards grades 6-8 but can be tailored for other grades. It offers a hands-on experience to students using real-life technology through an online/mobile app database called iMapInvasives. Students will learn to recognize invasive species that threaten their region and how they can help to reduce their spread and protect their favorite wild and urban spaces.
