WHAT IS THE ASTROCYTE INITIATIVE:
The Astrocyte Initiative is a project of Medicine Encompassed striving towards increasing awareness surrounding mental health. Through interactive platforms and outreach to student audiences, our primary goal is to tackle existing notions in this field, as well as providing a means of support for students. With our members’ efforts, we hope to destigmatize the current image of mental health and assist in maximizing resources that are currently available.

All applications for TAI's Voices of Tomorrow Co-Lead position are reviewed on a ROLLING BASIS (until filled); if selected, please expect an email from astrocyte@medicine-encompassed.org within 2 weeks of your initial submission! If you do not receive a response after 2 weeks upon submission, it is likely that your application is no longer under consideration.

WHAT IS MEDICINE ENCOMPASSED (PARENT ORGANIZATION OF THE ASTROCYTE INITIATIVE):
At Medicine Encompassed, we are a completely student-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization aiming to promote awareness and increase accessibility for those interested in future medical careers through various mediums. With a team of STEM-oriented individuals that are also passionate about biology, we are seeking to demonstrate the wide scope of what medicine encompasses. Recognizing the importance of expanding the medical field, our organization believes in accepting people from all backgrounds under one common interest. By bridging the gap between medicine, underrepresented minorities, and students from low-income backgrounds, our team of like-minded individuals is dedicated to creating more resources and opportunities in all medical fields.

Volunteer hours are provided and verification is available upon request! Medicine Encompassed is also a Certifying Organization for the President's Volunteer Service Award (valid in the United States only)!
