Are you interested in knowing who is eligible to run in the municipal election? Are you curious to learn some strategies for running election campaigns? Are you interested in knowing how you can run in the upcoming municipal election?
The GOT CITIZENSHIP? GO VOTE! Campaign, is hosting a Candidacy information sessions for Manitobans with lived experience as newcomers, immigrants and refugees to learn how to run in future municipal elections.
The interactive session will include an overview of the eligibility and administration requirements to run for a city councillor position and elected officials will share their experiences and insights in running a campaign.
DATE: Tuesday, June 7th
TIME: 7:00-9:00pm
This is a hybrid session, you can join virtually over zoom or in-person at Immigrant Centre Manitoba (100 Adelaide St.)
Speakers: Sherry Rollins (City Councillor for Fort-Rouge East Fort Garry) and Mike Pagtakhan (Former City Councillor for Point Douglas).

"GOT CITIZENSHIP? GO VOTE!" is a non-partisan, civic engagement public awareness campaign, which aims to encourage Canadian citizens of immigrant and refugee communities to vote in the municipal, provincial and federal elections. For the 2022 Manitoba Municipal Elections, our campaign seeks to also increase the knowledge, understanding and capacity of Manitobans with lived experience to run in municipal elections.

Le GOT CITIZENSHIP? GO VOTE! Campaign, organise deux sessions de formation à la candidature pour les Manitobains ayant une expérience vécue en tant que nouveaux arrivants, immigrants et réfugiés pour se présenter comme conseiller lors des prochaines élections municipales de 2022 au Manitoba.
Chaque session interactive comprendra un aperçu des conditions d'éligibilité et d'administration pour se présenter à un poste de conseiller municipal et les élus partageront leurs expériences et leurs idées dans la conduite d'une campagne.
