The Delaware Restaurant Association Educational Foundation is looking for individuals interested in pursuing Registered Apprenticeship Programs in the Hospitality Sector. Such as the 1-Year Line Cook, 1.5-Year Kitchen Manager or 2-Year Restaurant Manager Apprenticeship Programs. We welcome you to complete this application to learn more about how you can engage with this program. Fill out our questionnaire to indicate your interest, and we will be in touch with more details.

About Restaurant Youth Registered Apprentices: This NEW National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation apprenticeship program provides both new and current restaurant and foodservice employees the opportunity to advance their careers and move into high paying line cook and management positions. Funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, apprenticeship is an earn and learn program that is industry informed and validated.

These are highly motivated and committed individuals who not only have a proven interest in a career in the food industry, they’ve obtained deep training and credentials that make them ready to succeed in the restaurant environment on day one. Apprenticeships are generally a one-two year commitment.

Are you interested in learning more about becoming a Line Cook Apprentice? About Line Cook Apprenticeship: This apprenticeship focuses on those passionate about the culinary aspect of the Food Service Industry. The candidate will need to master many relevant competencies during their On-the-Job Learning such as food safety and storage, mise en place, and preparing meals. Prior to starting as an Apprentice with a restaurant, each Apprentice will receive 121 hours of Related Instruction from either a school, community organization, or through the hiring restaurant (online training). Line Cook Apprentices are 17-24 years old. Are you interested in learning more about becoming a Kitchen Manager Apprentice?  About Kitchen Manager Apprenticeship: This one and a half year apprenticeship focuses on those who have the passion to become leaders in Back of the House (BOH).  The candidates will have to master many relevant competencies during their on-the-job learning, including staff management, special dietary needs, how to handle customer complaint, and production and labor costs.  The related training instruction for Kitchen Manager includes 264 hours - which can be accomplished through community partners, the hiring restaurant, or virtually through the National Restaurant Association.  Kitchen Manager apprentices are between 18-24.   (Note: if you are interested in learning more about Kitchen Manager Apprenticeship, but are not ready to commit to becoming an Apprentice, please check yes and we will reach out with more information.)

About Restaurant Manager Apprenticeship: This two-year apprenticeship focuses on those passionate about becoming leaders in the Food Service Industry. The Candidates will have to master many relevant competencies during their On the Job Learning, including topics such as financial management, staff supervision, marketing, and outreach. The related training instruction for Restaurant Manager includes a total of 225 hours – approximately 112.5 hours a year -- which can be accomplished via community partners, the hiring restaurant, or virtually through the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation. Restaurant Manager Apprentices are 18-24.
