WQED Film Academy Summer 2023 In-Person Registration
PLEASE NOTE: Our in-person registration for the summer is currently full. WQED Film Academy is a youth education program in digital media arts and filmmaking. The Academy is open to rising 9th graders through recent 12th grade graduates (graduated 2023).

Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to apply for a next-level internship opportunity with Teen Film Crew. Upon successful completion of their internship, they may then be invited to apply for a part-time job with the Teen Film Crew where they get paid to produce promotional videos for clients and content for our web series: "The Reel Teens: Pittsburgh." Due to labor laws, students must be 16 to receive a paid position. COST TO ATTEND ONLY APPLIES TO A STUDENTS' FIRST SEMESTER WITH FILM ACADEMY.

The Summer 2023 in-person* program runs from June 26th through August 3rd, 2023 for four days each week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) from 10AM-3pm, at WQED Studios in Oakland - 4802 Fifth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. Lunch will be provided each day. WQED Film Academy will not be in session on Tuesday, July 4th, due to the holiday.

The cost of the program is $2,100 per student. Financial assistance is available due to the generous support from foundations and the Pittsburgh community. A $100 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration to secure a spot. The deposit will go towards the remaining balance that is due at the start of the session. Payment plans are available.

Financial assistance recipients are NOT required to provide a deposit, but confirmation via email or phone is necessary to claim the spot. 

If applying for full scholarships, this application is due Sunday June 11th, 2023.

WQED Film Academy uses a rolling admissions process and will notify all applicants of their application status within 2 weeks prior to the start of the semester. At that time, applicants will also be notified of financial assistance awarded, if applicable.  Limited spaces are available in each session.

We base our tuition on the 2021-2022 Federal Registry for Free & Reduced School Lunches shown below.
Here is what we require families pay for the program*:

Green section or below: $500

Yellow: $1,000

Anything above Yellow:  $2,000.
