We are excited to offer our new Year 7 students the opportunity to study their preferred modern foreign language of Spanish or French when they begin at Granville Academy in September 2024. Before making a choice, students should consider their experiences of languages at primary school and if they have a good foundation in French or Spanish that they can build on in Year 7. If students have no preference, this is fine too. In that situation, we will match students to whichever language has the most capacity. Once students have opted for a language, there would not be an opportunity to move languages as this would affect all of their other subjects on their timetable. Students study languages in Years 7-9 for 2 hours a week and will have an opportunity to study a second modern foreign language in Years 10-11.
