Project Introduction: Prior to discussion, it may be beneficial for the group to review the slides from the Public Kick-off Meeting held August 9th, provided in Appendix A. Information in this presentation may help answer questions regarding the project purpose and process and provide some context of conditions in Chenango County that have changed since the completion of the Vision 2020 Plan effort (1992).
Directions: As a group, discuss the importance of each topic and determine the group’s top three priorities and policy ideas. After discussing all of the topics and creating priorities for each, decide which priorities are most important to the group.
Topic Areas: There are three main elements that contribute to quality of life: Community, Economy, and Environment. In order to plan for Chenango County’s future, it is important to consider the strengths and weaknesses of each of these elements and how needs and priorities in each need to be balanced to improve the health and wellbeing of residents as well as the vitality and resiliency of the environment and economy. The questions below are intended to guide discussion around these topic areas to get your input on the needs and priorities of each element, which will help to inform the development of Vision 2050 Plan policies, goals, and actions.
