Use this form to opt in or opt out of emails from DEIC in general or DEIC subcommittees. Signing up for emails is not considered to be a commitment to the subcommittee, but rather a desire to be kept in the loop and participate when available.

Purpose of each DEIC subcommittee:
-Admissions: Serve as DEI representatives under the admissions review board by reviewing applications and working with faculty to identify stellar students who should be invited for BMCDB interviews. Application review begins first week of December.

-Student Wellness Inclusion Retention (SWIRL): Provide resources and support for students, build a community within BMCDB that is welcoming and inclusive of all, establish connections between peers to build strong mentorship and support systems

-Discussions Committee: Provide an in-class opportunity to unpack some of the “-isms” (e.g. racism, sexism, classism) on which science was founded  

-Outreach Colloquiums: Increase recruitment of a more diverse student population to BMCDB and graduate school as a whole by demystifying the admissions process and how to overcome obstacles in science

-Membership Renewal Form: Work with Membership Committee to review and update current membership renewal form. Meet 2X a quarter.

-Data Acquisition and Analysis: Generate and distribute surveys in order to collect information from BMCDB students. Work closely with other sub-committees for various data acquisition.

-Diversity Training: Partner with the BMCDB Mentorship Committee to identify and recommend appropriate DEI- and mentorship-related trainings for BMCDB faculty
