Stearns/November 10-12, 2023
This is an intentional Back-to-the-Woods / "theme-free" campout that will provide advancement opportunities. Scouts should have their Scout handbook. We will be tenting. We have access to Deckenbach Lodge for the weekend. Scouts can sleep in Deckenbach if weather doesn't cooperate or if Scouts prefer, but remember that many Scout camping requirements only allow Scouts to count nights spent outdoors! Deckenbach does NOT have kitchen facilities, we'll be cooking outside. Plan on at least one Dutch oven meal as a patrol.

• PACKING • If you're not sure what to pack for a weekend campout, check pg 269 in the Scout Handbook.
Troop 1 Website: What to Pack

Be Prepared for the weather. Early November camps can be hot and sunny or they can include measurable snowfall. Adjust your gear accordingly. If tenting, remember that a closed-cell sleeping pad is best as an insulation layer. Most air mattresses will not keep you warm if the air or ground are cold.

"THERE'S NO BAD WEATHER JUST THE WRONG GEAR!"
Parent's -  PLEASE DO NOT EVER PACK FOR YOUR SCOUT!

• COST • Scouts pay up to $15 for food.

• MENU • Menus to be planned by patrol(s) on Monday before camp. Patrols should plan to cook at least one meal in a Dutch oven (deserts don't count)
If less than 4 adults attend, adults will be budgeted for and eat with the patrols (but shall supply their own coffee).

• PATROL & TROOP GEAR • Prepped and taken from shed on Monday before camp - Tents, Dutch Oven(s), Patrol Box(es), Tarps, Axe, Saw, etc.
