Becoming Albertan Research Project - Teacher Information Form
Thank you for your interest in participating in the Becoming Albertan Research Project, organized by researchers at the University of Alberta.

We are recruiting teachers and students to participate in the main stage of this study in schools throughout Alberta . A total of 100 schools across Alberta will be invited to participate, including approximately 300 classes and 6000 students. Suggested courses include Social Studies, Language Arts, and Art.

Participating teachers will play an important role in preparing for, delivering, and summarizing the results of the activity. We estimate the total time commitment at less than 2 hours.  Here is an estimate of how much time is required:
Preparing for the activity (approx. 45 minutes): distributing/collecting permission forms, reviewing the instruction guide, preparing the classroom
Administering the activity (approx. 30 minutes): playing the instructional video, overseeing the students’ drawing and writing, leading a post-activity discussion
After the activity (approx. 45 minutes): reviewing, collecting, and mailing the students’ worksheets to the research team, completing a post-activity survey

If you are interested in participating, please fill out the following form.  Your information will be kept confidential. This project has been approved by the University of Alberta Research Ethics Board. It is funded by a collaborative grant between the Alberta Teachers' Association (ATA) and the Kule Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS).  Our pilot study was conducted with support of the Parkland School Division.
