Audition requirements for new applicants:
STRINGS
- Two contrasting selections (one slow, one fast)
- 3 octave scale and arpeggio; one bow up, one bow down; spiccato - one note per bow
- Double Basses: 3 octave scale – 8 notes per bow; 3 octave arpeggio – 6 notes per bow; spiccato (scale and arpeggio) – one note per bow
- Excerpts from Mahler's 1st symphony
- Please bring a copy of your music for the adjudicator
WINDS / BRASS
- Two contrasting movements or two contrasting studies (one slow, one fast)
- 2 or 3 (preferred) octave scale and arpeggio: once slurred, once tongued
- Please bring a copy of your music for the adjudicator
PERCUSSION
- Pieces or studies for the following instruments: timpani, snare drum, xylophone or marimba, cymbals
- Please bring a copy of your music for the adjudicator
HARP
- Two contrasting movements or two contrasting studies (one slow, one fast) and 3 octave scale and arpeggio
- Note: Possibly minimal participation during the season, depending on the repertoire, or possibly no repertoire with harp. Repertoire decisions will be made in July.
