FreeWheels Program Community Partner Application
FreeWheels is a ReCyclery program aimed at making bike ownership accessible to all. Our partner organizations play a key role in helping us identify folks within our community who are experiencing financial barriers to owning a bicycle.

Once an advocate or community partner reaches out to us with the below criteria, our mechanics work to match the request with an appropriate bike. Refurbishing a bike can take up to two weeks (or longer in our busy, summer season), so please take that into consideration for the client's needs.

Privacy:
We understand the importance of privacy in your work and partnering agencies. We can either work directly (and discreetly) with you as a client advocate, or we can make contact with the client themselves once you have assisted us in determining their needs. We do ask that the client is available at the time of pick up so we can work with them on fine-tuning the bike set up, sizing, and go over any new concepts they might not be familiar with (shifting, braking, etc), but can also make arrangements to have the bike dropped off to your location.

We look forward to working with you, your team, and of course, your clients! Should you have any additional questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly at programs@ptrecyclery.org

FreeWheel Program Contribution Options
We are a non-profit organization that relies on donations and volunteers to keep us rollin'. A typical refurbished bike sells somewhere between $250-$450 in our bike shop and includes new and used parts. Our refurbished bicycles generally have labor and new/consumable parts costs associated with them. We ask if your organization or client is able, to donate time in the form of a Work/Trade agreement or via a financial donation to help us offset the costs associated with providing a bicycle.

Work Trade: Generally these Work/Trade agreements offer participants the ability to volunteer a minimum 90 minutes of their time. This could include sweeping the shop, taking out materials to the scrap yard, organizing & cleaning the scrap yard, etc. We understand that not everyone can take advantage of this opportunity, so a Work/Trade is not a requirement to receive a bike.

Partner/Client Donation: FreeWheel requests come with a suggested donation of $150-$200 to help cover costs of labor and new parts for an adult bike, and $50-$80 for a 20" kids bike and smaller. With that being said, if your organization/client can not afford this suggested donation, please let us know a budget that works for you/them.
