Hi Friends of the San Diego Clean Slate Clinic,
We're back at the South Metro Clinic. Because we are only offering Clinics every other month, we will continue to expect a high volume of new and returning participants each month. We are hoping more of you can come and help, even if it is only for a few hours. We are continuing to work on improving the delay between volunteer training and when a participant arrives at your table. We appreciate your patience and your continued commitment to supporting your community by volunteering your time at the Clinic!
LOCATION: We'll be back at the South Metro Career Center, located at 4389 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, CA 92113. As always, we're expecting a large number of participants and will need lots of volunteers to assist them!
IMPORTANT NOTES FOR 2020 CLINIC SCHEDULE:
1) The Clinic is undergoing a number of transitions that will require us to reduce services and impact the overall number of participants we are able to serve each Clinic. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through these changes.
2) Please be sure to check the website before each scheduled Clinic for updates, cancellations or additional dates. We will do our best to communicate any changes to the schedule as far in advance as possible.
VOLUNTEER TRAINING
Volunteer training will be held from 9-10 AM the morning of the clinic. We are always fine-tuning the Clinic so there will be some changes to clinic processes and ALL NEW AND RETURNING volunteers are asked to attend the training in order to volunteer that day. We appreciate your patience and feedback as we continue to refine and improve the clinic for both volunteers and participants.
WHAT TO BRING
Please bring a laptop (preferably charged as there are limited electrical outlets). Volunteers are also encouraged to bring snacks and water. We will provide bottled water and some snacks. We occasionally get food donations, but some volunteers prefer to bring their own snacks.
WHAT TO WEAR
Dress code is business casual. Jeans, casual tops & sweaters are OK. Please dress comfortably and bring a sweater as the room tends to get chilly.
COMMUNITY LIVESCAN SERVICES
The Clinic now offers Livescan (electronic fingerprinting) services on site at the Clinic. As many of you know, one of the major barriers to receiving post-conviction relief is getting access to your own criminal record. Thanks to a grant from Partners for Progress, the Clinic is now able to help remove this barrier by providing Livescan services on site and at a reduced cost. Please check out our website
sd-csc.org/livescan or the 2020 Clinic flyer for more information.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Take care,
Keiara & Adam
