The 2025 Master Mariner competition will be held on
Saturday 8th March 2025 at the
Marine Institute, Galway; proudly supported by the Irish Institute of Master Mariners, celebrating 30 years since the first event. We hope to see every Sea Scout Group represented, as well as many non-Sea Scout Groups
The Master Mariner competition is the pinnacle of Scouting’s seamanship challenges.
Entries are open for Venture & Rover Scouts and will close on 20 February 2025.
€15.00 per competitor, including lunch, collectible event t-shirt and a 30 years of the Master Mariner badge.

ONE area of the Strategy which is of interest to them. They should be able to discuss this for 4-5 minutes, outlining:
- Why they picked that area
- How it connects to their wider interests (school, college, career, boating, hobbies)
- Details of further learning they have done on this topic.
