Active Learning: From Pedagogy to Practice
Join us for this year’s Best Practices in Health Sciences Education Conference, to be held on Wednesday, April 29 and Thursday, April 30! This annual tradition brings together Health Sciences educators from diverse fields to focus on innovation and collaboration.  This year’s two-day conference will focus on a wide variety of emerging ideas in Health Professions, with special attention to how to successfully implement active learning strategies in existing programs.  Activities include highly interactive plenary sessions, workshops, and a poster session.
Submission deadline is noon on Friday, February 14, 2020. Presenters will be notified by March 1, 2020 if their proposal was accepted.
We are accepting four session formats for our 2020 conference.
**Poster**
A graphic presentation of an author's research. Authors illustrate their findings by highlighting their main findings, displaying graphs, photos, diagrams and a small amount of text on the poster boards. Posters will be on display throughout the day on April 30.

**Lightning Round Talk (10-minute presentation + 5-minute Q&A)**
High-energy 10-minute talks, presented to all attendees as a showcase of the best and most innovative work on the conference topic.

**Panel Discussions (60 minutes)**
A moderated session consisting of three to five panelists discussing a specific topic or challenge in a conversational format.

**Workshop (90-120 minutes)**
In-depth workshops or instructional programs with hands on learning opportunities and specific takeaways that enable participants to gain more expertise in a particular area of interest, or interactive exercises designed to address a challenge. Sessions should have half or more of the time spent on experiential learning and active audience participation focused on the development of new skills, techniques, or proficiencies.
