Dear Grade Two Parents,
You are invited to engage in a Student-Led Conference (SLC) on Tuesday, June 11th, Thursday, June 13th or Friday, June 14th from either 15:45 to 16:30 or from 16:30 - 17:15. Your child will be leading the conference. If you have more than one child please ensure all of your children stay with you as you visit each classroom as there is no childcare during the SLC.
Once in the classroom, your child will give you a tour of the room. They will explain the different work and activities displayed. Your child will show you some activities their class has chosen to set up in the room. They may ask you to join them in completing some of these activities.
The main focus of the SLC is your child’s learning this year. Your child will show you their portfolio, which is made up of examples of work your child has completed throughout the year. These samples of work display the progress your child has made over the year.
As you can imagine this is a very important day for your child and it is a time for them to reflect on the year. Your child will be excited to talk to you and explain the work they have completed. It is important that you spend time listening to your child and ask them questions about their work.
You are free to leave the school premises when you and your child/children have finished the conference.
Throughout the SLC the class teacher will be present in the classroom but will only facilitate if necessary. Your child is responsible for leading you around the classroom and showing you their work.
We are offering a few time slots to decrease congestion in the classrooms and to allow parents with more than one child to spend time with each child. Once the schedule is set, you will receive a confirmation by email. Please note which time slot you will attend with your child. Please feel free to leave when your child is finished.
The EAL/EFL coordinator will be available by appointment. Her email address is:
faye.nepomuceno@dskobe.orgWe look forward to seeing you.
Sincerely,
