What is a Coronathlon?
Based loosely on the Tuckerman Inferno pentathlon (cancelled last year due to COVID), this is a virtual race with 5 different timed events. You can compete either as a team (2-5 members), or as an individual.
What are the events?
This year, we're doing it a little differently -- to accommodate the many interests and locations of MITOCers, you will be able to choose your own adventure! There will be a 5x5 grid of events, and you must complete a "BINGO" (or, in this case, "MITOC") of 5 events. This means you must complete all 5 events in either a row, column, or diagonal. Events and their descriptions are listed here.
When is this happening?
You can complete the events on any day between Saturday Sept 18 - Sunday Sept 26. Events do not need to be completed consecutively, ie you can complete different events on different days, but each event needs to be completed without stopping.
How does scoring work?
We're the outing club of MIT, so of course we need some math... event times each have a scaling factor to account for their differences in average time to complete. Your times will be multiplied by those scaling factors. (It is a valid strategy to take advantage of our bad time estimates to get a better score.)
