inesei@lehigh.edu Abstract - PART 1: Key Challenges to A Sustainable U.S. Electric Power Generation Strategy
The Fall ESE Seminar entitled, “What is a Sustainable Electric Power Portfolio?” discussed the need to develop a holistic framework for analysis of options to achieve a sustainable U.S. electric power generation portfolio. However, a diverse array of stakeholders and drivers pose substantial challenges to defining sustainability in this context as well as create substantial complexity in defining constraints and metrics underlying meaningful analysis. This seminar will discuss the substantial body of energy-economic analysis which integrates technology and policy constraints with optimizing electricity costs. Since the disparate criteria constituting sustainability typically result in conflicting priorities, these analyses provide a foundation for the framework needed to inform technology development and policy-making decisions.
You acknowledge that by attending the ESE Energy Seminar Series, you will abide by the rules as detailed:
- Unless specifically requested by the speaker, all questions will be deferred to the end of the talk.
- The Director or a designee will moderate the post-talk discussion, (questions and comments should be relevant to subject in discussion).
