Sand Ridge Math Dept. Disclosure 2021-2022
                                                        Sand Ridge Math Department Disclosure

Materials
Students are expected to come to class with a charged chrome book, notebook, and 2 pencils everyday. This year, in order to avoid contact with sharing supplies,  I recommend students also bring a calculator and plug in earbuds for the chrome book.   Please no blue tooth earbuds.  The calculator needs to be able to do exponents and square/cube roots-nothing too expensive or difficult to use.  We are using a TI-83 Plus in class.  If textbooks are checked out, you are required to bring your textbook every day as well. Unprepared students will lose credit.

How to succeed
All students have the ability to succeed in Math. It just requires a commitment to paying attention, making an effort on every assignment, ask questions, turn in work on time and re-do any work or test that had a low score. Most important of all: Never give up!

If you find yourself struggling with an assignment or test, make arrangements to meet with your teacher during advisory time or come to after school tutoring for help.

Assignments
Assignments are how students communicate with the teacher their understanding of the concepts. This feedback from the students allows the teacher to plan if reteaching is needed or the class is ready to move to the next section. For teachers to make this decision work must be turned in on time. Work that is turned in on time may be redone for full credit.

Late Work
Work that is turned in after the due date will receive a drop of 20%. If the assignment is more than two weeks late it will only receive 50%.  Work assigned before midterms will not be accepted after the midterm cut off date set by the teacher.

Grades
Grades will be given according to the following grading scale:

A = 93-100% B = 83-85%  C = 73-75% D = 63-65%
A-= 90-92% B-= 80-82%  C-= 70-72% D-= 60-62%
B+=86-89% C+=76-79%  D+=66-69% F = Below 60%

Several grades will be completed on a rubric scale of 1-4 instead of percentages.  A 4 is high, 1 is low.

These symbols are used for grading on progress reports:

A = Absent: Student was absent on this date. Work can be made up within a week for full credit.
AC = Accommodation: Due to individual situations the teacher assigned or graded this assignment with accommodations.
I = Incomplete: Assignment must be re-done as it  was submitted but was not complete to the minimum required standards.
L = Late: The assignment was submitted after the due date.
M = Missing: The assignment has not been submitted for grading.
R = Redone: The student re-did the assignment.
X = Exempt: The student is not required to do the assignment and it is not included in the final grade for that student.
Ch = Cheating: score is zero and cannot be made up.  Cheating also affects the citizenship grade.

Citizenship
Citizenship grades reflect the students adherence to the rules, the effort put forth in the class, and the attitude of the student.  According to school policy 1-2 rule infractions will earn the student an S (satisfactory) citizenship grade.  3-4 infractions will result in an N (needs improvement) and more than 4 infractions is a U (unacceptable).  Cheating, truancies, and safe school violations* will result in an automatic N or U as determined by instructor.

*Please note that Safe School Policy infractions will be immediately referred to the administration.

The most important rule for school is to show RESPECT to the teacher, other students. and yourself. The school rules are listed in the student folder received at registration, but here are a few to keep in mind:
• Be on time and in your seat with your materials, ready to work. See school tardy policy.
• Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself. If it’s not yours don’t touch it.
• Follow instructions the first time they are given and don’t talk back or try to argue with the teacher.
• Do not leave your seat without permission.
• Do your own work and turn it in on time.
• No food, candy or drinks except water are allowed. For some teachers this includes gum.
• Make-up, toys or any other objects that distract from schoolwork are not allowed in class.
• No horseplay, hitting, throwing items, or other physical contact. (safe school infractions)

Cell phones, earbuds and headphones are not allowed to be used in the classroom.  They must be kept out of sight.
