ORETI SLSC Information
Welcome to Oreti Surf Life Saving Club (OSLSC) and Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ).

Lifeguarding & Patrol Support (14yrs - adults):
We do volunteer weekend afternoon patrols mid-November to late-March.
Summer training (following open day - Nov 19 2023) is Thursdays 6-9pm at the clubhouse (25 Dune Cres, Oreti Beach). October is the key month for preparing for the Lifeguard and IRB awards.
Winter training (school terms 2 & 3 + Oct) is Thursdays 7-8pm at Splash Palace.
Trainings cover beach theory, first aid, swimming, self defense, rescue boards, inflatable rescue boats, etc. Some courses and competitions are held around the country.

Nippers (7-13 yrs)
Summer program (late November to end of March - with a break in the holidays) runs Sundays 1-3pm at the club house (25 Dune Cres, Oreti Beach)
Winter training (school terms 2 & 3 + Oct) runs Thursdays 6-7pm at Splash Palace.
We have a structured 6 levels of theory & skills for ages 7-13 with a "Rookie Lifeguard Award" program for 13 year-olds that gets them out on patrols & involved with the lifeguard trainings.
--> A prerequisite to joining is to swim 20m freestyle comfortably with good breathing technique <--

Fees
Summer Subs are $50 for individuals or $80 for families. 
Nipper Winter Subs are $40 for individuals or $80 for families.
A hi-viz top will need to be purchased for activities in the surf (prices below).

Our financial season starts 1 July.

Recommended Items
Hi-Viz vest (compulsory for surf sessions - we sell these for $30 new / $15 used)
Wetsuit - full length is best (for surf sessions)
Goggles
Flippers (for nippers only as we have lifeguard fins) - prefer the longer floating ones like dafinn, mirage (rebel sport) or aqualine rubber fins
Towel - SLS styles at 'Bed, Bath and Beyond'
Swim Cap (in stock)
Drink bottle & snacks
