Great news everyone - the Bay Area Book Festival is back and live again this year! YAY!

We have exciting changes! 

We’re bringing the festival to 2 weekends instead of one - to amplify and enhance our Family Programming!

  • Saturday May 4th - FREE Family Day at the Berkeley Public Library - 3 floors of remarkable conversations and books for every age in the family (including our teens and tweens!)!
  • Saturday, June 1st - Our 10th anniversary Weekend!!
  • FREE Author and writer workshops during the day at the library
  • Plus 2 evening ticketed shows with major headliners at The Freight & Salvage
  • Sunday, June 2nd - 5 stages of FREE shows all day!
  • The Freight & Salvage all day
  • plus 4 Stages outdoors at our amazing Outdoor Fair!
REMINDERS:
  • VOLUNTEERS CHECK IN 1 HOUR PRIOR TO THEIR SHIFT TIME.
  • For May: Volunteers must attend a one hour Zoom orientation on either Monday April 29th or Tuesday, April 30th at 7:00pm. 
  • For June: Volunteers must attend a one hour Zoom orientation on Wednesday May 29th at 7:00pm.
  • For those doing double shifts, you'll get a lunch break in between. You will need to purchase or bring your own lunch. 
Thank you for joining our team! We couldn't do it without you!

You all have been our Volunteers - and the jobs this year will be consistent: helping at the Freight and/or Library (our only indoor venues) with attendee management, managing the theaters, and supporting the author talks, as well as at the Outdoor Fair with the outdoor stages. We also have volunteers helping in the Red Room (Production HQ) checking in/out volunteers, at the Author Reception on Friday night, on a tech team, and in the Green Room with hospitality.

Let us know any production area you are interested in helping with, your availability, and we’ll find a job that fits your skill base! We always appreciate volunteers who are flexible and willing to do whatever is needed, and if possible, might grab a shift for both weekends!

Every volunteer will receive a festival lanyard to use after their volunteer shift is over to enjoy going to any of the available sessions.
