The Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN)-West Asia and the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS) at Bethlehem University (
palestinenature.org) invite young Palestinians to meet to help protect biodiversity on all scales and levels. Intact ecosystems and the connection to nature are key components of human wellbeing. GYBN is a youth-organised group with members from all the continents committed to make young voices of the youth heard on UN level especially in regards to the Convention of Biological Diversity (CBD). The State of Palestine has ratified the CBD and is therefore obliged to the implementation of the Post2020-framework that was adopted in Montreal in 2022. It sets out the global targets to halt and reverse biodiversity loss to be reached until 2030. Learn more about the opportunities to actively participate as youth in that process, connect with like-minded peers and bring your own questions and ideas.
During the event we will hear from the coordinator of GYBN West Asia, Rayan Kassem. He will be joined by the head of GYBN Lebanon, Yara Acaf and Julius Pahl, remote volunteer at PMNH and youth delegate to the COP15 in Montreal.
Who can join? Anyone below the age of 35. Prior knowledge not required, an interest in biodiversity is appreciated.
