About us:
Taff Rocks is a small, non-profit organisation with a constitution, bank account in its own name and a management committee.

We have recently secured funding to run a minimum of 12 community workshops in the Aberfan and Merthyr Vale areas.

Job Description:
All volunteers will deliver their services as per their mutually agreed activity plans developed and monitored by the Taff Rocks Committee.

To contribute in a way that supports and enhances the work of Taff Rocks and other volunteers.
To encourage and motivate people to make positive and constructive use of leisure and recreational activities
To assist workshop users to meet their goal.
To assist with provision of the workshop programme.
To assist with promotional events.
To communicate and interact with people to establish non judgemental supportive relationships.
To liaise with other volunteers, professionals and agencies as required in line with activity plans.
To embrace the ethos, aims and objectives of Taff Rocks and to ensure that all voluntary activities undertaken are consistent with these goals and values.
To ensure that all voluntary activities are performed within Aquarius policies and procedures.
To ensure voluntary activity is undertaken in line with Taff Rocks' confidentiality policy and data protection policy and procedures.
To ensure voluntary activity is undertaken in line with Health and Safety requirements and risk management protocols.
To participate in supervision as required by the organisation.
To notify the lead facilitator of any untoward occurrences that may affect the service, both at a professional and administrative level.
Job Description - Main Duties:
Help to set up art and craft sessions and clear up after sessions
Enable co-workers to assist and complete arts based tasks in order to help workshop participants reach their goals.
Participate in pre and post session briefings with session leader and other team members, giving feedback when sessions end.
Contribute to the delivery of Taff Rocks' organisational aims by participating in practical sessions
Assist with the physical maintenance and general organisation of Taff Rocks and operating as a member of the team.
Undertake art and craft sessions in alternative locations and with other groups as required away from the main site.
Welcome visitors to the site and advising people seeking information about Taff Rocks, including the opportunity to assist with any visitors’ days, special events and other occasions on and off site.
Attend group supervision sessions and meetings.

Skills and abilities required:
Creative with a personal interest and experience in the arts/crafts
Excellent communication skills - you will need to be able to communicate well with a variety of different people, enjoy meeting new people and have an understanding that it takes time to get to know someone.
Be non judgemental, open and accepting
Ability to work reliably and as part of a team is a key aspect of the role
Be willing to listen and learn from your experiences.

Availability:
Taff Rocks is seeking someone who can be available for at least 3 - 5 hours per month.
Additional hours include school holiday times and for meetings
Location:
Aberfan and Merthyr Vale, Merthyr Tydfil
Reimbursement:
Reimbursement for travelling expenses and DBS check can be discussed at an interview.
Interviews and closing date for applications
The interview will be very informal, so you can attend in well-presented, casual clothes.

Interviews will take place following shortlisting with a start date in January 2020.

We are seeking volunteers now so we are able to discuss rota and scheduling for facilitators.
