Sharing Your Story - NEU SpeakOut
This is a safe space for any student, alum, faculty or staff member associated with Northeastern University to anonymously share their experiences of any form of sexual harassment/violence. You can share any part of your experience that you wish: trauma, healing, growth, connection after trauma, etc. Please share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. It is not necessary for you to have named or completely processed your experience before submitting a story nor does your experience have to fall into any specific category. We believe you always. We ask that you do not share the stories or experiences of others in your submission, as we want to ensure that every survivor's story remains their own.

If you change your mind about your story being posted, we're completely open to modifying or taking it down as you wish. Just remember to save your passcode so that we can anonymously link the passcode to your submission. Your story is your own to tell.

At the bottom of the form are additional resources if you would like to further discuss or process your experience.

IMPORTANT:
If you choose to publish your story, you will be asked to create a passcode. This will not link to your personal information. Rather, this allows you to have an anonymous ID linked to your submission in the case that you change your mind about your story being posted. If at any point you wish your story be taken down or edited, make sure to have your passcode handy and follow this link: https://forms.gle/NNwT31Go9yeFSERz8

We want to emphasize that there is no need to mention specific details or identifying information in your submission in order for your story to be valued and heard. If you do choose to include such information, however, please note that some information may be redacted to prevent the identification of the survivor or legal pushback against Speakout or the survivor. We recognize the importance of accountability, but this space is for all survivors to be able to share safely in a trauma-informed manner. As a result, we will limit posts to one piece of identifying informationIf in typing your story, you choose to write out your perpetrator’s name, we will block out all letters excluding their first initial. If you choose to call out an institution/organization/club/affiliation, this will be reviewed to ensure there is no chance of your identity being being compromised. However, if you choose to name your perpetrator(s) or include their initials, position/title, etc. in addition to their organization or affiliation, we will not post the story to protect your safety as a survivor using this space.

All submissions are anonymous and confidential. Stories will be posted on the NEU SpeakOut Instagram page within 5-10 days of submitting this form and in order of submission. We want to ensure you have complete control over your story; therefore, if we do not post your story within this timeframe, please reach out to us via the anonymous contact form linked above and in the Carrd in our Instagram bio. Alternatively, you may DM us (@neuspeakout) or email sarcatnortheastern@gmail.com using a newly created, anonymous Instagram account or email address. Again, please identify yourself with the passcode you create when communicating with us in these ways.

We believe you always, and we’re here to tell your story.
