Kia ora koutou ma whanau o te kura Kotuku Lauriston,
Lauriston School values E.O.T.C (Education Outside the Classroom) experiences and opportunities for our students. Over the years we have offered many outstanding opportunities and wish to sustain this practice.
During the past 5 years, our team has developed increasing E.O.T.C opportunities across the classrooms as children transition through the school. We have seen a variety of camps, whole school excursions such as our big day out to the Ashburton Lakes and our annual Whole School Ski Days, classroom trips and many cultural and sporting trips depending on the age and stage of the child. We have also moved to include Y0-4 students within our Snow Sports Programme within this period of time to maximise opportunities for all our students and their families.
As a staff we have begun to develop a vision of what our school's E.O.T.C pathway looks like as we move forward over the next 5-6 years. We think our families would value these experiences and have had feedback which indicated that many of our families would also value the certainty that would come with a guaranteed programme of E.O.T.C activities over the course of each child's primary schooling experience while they are attending Lauriston School.
As such the team have put together a vision for what this might look like as part of our community consultation practice, which helps us re-evaluate our communities needs and desires when it comes to our partnering up together within the school, to be able to ensure that these opportunities are not only made available for students, but are also on point with what our families want for their children.
