Each fall, the Manitoba Band Association honours the memory of Ken Epp by presenting a Professional Development Award. Ken was a master mentor, leader, and organizer who never stopped learning.

The award is open to band educators in their first 5 years of teaching who  exhibit strong leadership skills and contribute to the overall culture of the band program in their  school and community in Manitoba. Successful applicants should be clear advocates for music  education in their school community/school division, and demonstrate strong organizational  skills. Candidates will distinguish themselves by the volunteer time and effort they give to music  and other activities in their school and community. A $650.00 award will be presented. As part of the application letter, applicants  should outline how the funds are to be used for their own professional development.
