2019 Workshop Proposal Form
Are you interested in committing to lead a workshop for Gainesville’s Girls Rock Camp? We’re hosting camp June 24th-29th this year at the Santa Fe College Downtown Blount Center for rockers aged 9-17. We need volunteers to lead empowering and fun workshops during the first 5 days of each session. Workshops are at 10am and 1pm every day and last one hour. We typically ask workshop instructors to conduct the same workshop twice, so that we can break the campers into two small groups and have each group take turns attending. Organizers and roadies will be present to assist workshop facilitation.

When planning your workshop, please keep in mind that campers will be ages 9-17. The more they can engage and feel involved in the workshop the better! Try to avoid lectures, keep it interactive! If you are participating in both sessions, tailor your workshop to each age group. Examples of past workshops include Costuming with a Popping Performance Personae, Women’s Self-Defense, Zine Making, The Science of Sound, Women’s Rock History, and Screen Printing. Workshops should also be empowering and encouraging. We want to teach the girls new skills and information, but most importantly, we want to build up their self-esteem and help them feel strong and capable. Because we have a limited amount of time at camp, not all workshops will be accepted. We will review your proposal and let you know as soon as possible if your workshop fits our qualifications. Thanks for your support!
