Tech needs:
To deliver group classes, volunteers will need access to a desktop or laptop computer with a camera (Mac or Windows Operating System), plus WiFi
To do one-on-one tutoring any computer, tablet, or phone with a camera, plus WiFi will meet your tech needs.
Please note, WEC ask's that all teachers (new and returning) complete at least one teacher training and miss no more than two classes each term. Training on teaching and technology will be released closer to the start date. If you think you will miss more than two classes in the upcoming term, please contact Yaritza Abrego at (
yabrego@washingtonenglish.org) before submitting this form. See important term dates below.
Teaching (Group Class) Schedule: All classes via Zoom with e-textbooks. The commitment is for 11 weeks, with Thanksgiving week off.
Weekday ESOL AM: 10 AM-12 PM
Weekday ESOL PM: 6:30 PM-8:30 PM
Week before September 21: recorded and live virtual trainings
September 21st First day of class
October 12th No class
November 11th No class
November 23rd - November 29th No classes
December 11th: Last day of class (Weekday programs)
December 13th: Last day of class (Weekend programs)
Virtual Tutoring Schedule:
Tutoring is a 10-week commitment from the time you are matched with your student. If there is a week you are not able to meet with your student, you are responsible for rescheduling and ensuring you complete 10 sessions with your student. The earliest you may be matched is September 21, but matches will continue throughout the fall, as students continue to request tutors.
Weekday AM: 1:00PM-2:00PM
Weekday PM: 5:00PM-6:00PM
Weekend: 12:30PM-1:30PM
