In conjunction with the Library of Congress, National History Day (NHD) will be offering a special online course in fall 2021 (August 16 to December 13, 2021) for teachers to learn how to develop and support student-driven historical research.

This opportunity is open to teachers or school librarians in grades 4-12. Pre-service teachers studying to be teachers or school librarians are also eligible. All scholarship recipients will be required to participate in the NHD program (at any level) during the 2021-2022 academic year.

Participating Teachers will:
• participate in monthly readings (all materials provided at no cost) and discussion posts;
• engage in a monthly live webinar with an expert in the field (tentatively scheduled for 7pm ET / 4pm PT September 13, October 12, November 8, and December 6*) focusing on historical content and using primary sources in the classroom; and
• Create and submit one classroom activity integrating a Library of Congress primary source and a historical thinking skill.

Upon successful completion, teachers will receive a certificate of 90 professional development hours OR three graduate credits from the University of San Diego (at no cost to them).

Apply today for consideration for this special opportunity to learn and collaborate with teachers from around the world!

*We strongly urge all participants to plan to attend the events live. If you are unable to join live or run into a technical problem, recordings will be available the next day.
