TOGETHER IN JESUS: RECONCILIATION:  As we continue with our "Together in Jesus" lesson, we are going to learn about how Jesus teaches us to love God and others. Jesus wanted his followers to forgive and make up when they treated each other in unloving ways. He taught us that forgiving is so important that he gives us a way to celebrate God's forgiveness and love. This celebration is called the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Let's turn to page 4 in your "Together in Jesus" and read about how "Jesus Teaches Us to Love God and Others." When you are done, please answer the questions below.
What do we call it when the first man and woman disobeyed God? *

Way to go!! We call it the Sacrament of Reconciliation because it brings people together again. (Reconciliation means "to bring back together.") We also give the sacrament the name Confession because we tell a priest our sins, the unloving actions we do and want to change. We also give the sacrament the name Penance because the priest gives us a prayer to pray or a loving action to make up for our unloving actions. Now let's take some time to understand even more about reconciliation in our next section. Before we do that, we need to put our Lesson 1 sticker (see below) on the bottom of our "Together in Jesus" lesson, as we have just completed our first lesson. Hooray!!
GOD'S GIFT OF FORGIVENESS - WELCOME TO THE FAMILY: One of the best places to learn about love is in our own families. Family love is very special and it is something you can have with you wherever you go. It probably isn't hard to think of a time when you have done something with your family that has left you with a special memory or even a time when everyone was laughing and kidding around sharing a family joke. In your God's Gift of Forgiveness booklet, I want you to turn to page 4, read it over and then draw a comic of a special family memory you have. Feel free to use the stickers, indicated for page 3 (see below) to add to your drawing.
Great job! I can't wait to see the pictures you send me of the wonderful memories you have come up with. Just remember, you are part of God's loving family. God loves his family and wants to keep us close no matter where we go or where we live!
