Fern Fest 2024 Volunteer & Crew Application
Building the Fern Fest community takes many hands and as a growing festival, we operate with a small, tight knit crew. Each role is integral to festival operations and it's important that we are all committed to showing up for our team and the community as a whole. Applicants should be prepared to structure their time at the festival, balancing work, play and rest/self-care, to ensure they are able to be on time and at full capacity for their assigned shifts. All crew may be eligible for early arrival and late departure to support set-up and strike.

There are two opportunities to join the team - volunteer crew and staff crew.
  • Staff crew members are required to work up to 40 total hours throughout the festival to receive a free full week ticket and additional compensation.
  • Volunteer crew members are required to work 20 total hours throughout the festival to receive a free full week ticket.
Fern Fest is a music festival specifically curated to drive connection, foster community and belonging for women, non-binary and trans and folks and those that live on the spectrum of the feminine spirit. It is really important that crew members can actively support Fern Fest’s values and community guidelines while performing their roles. Fern Fest crew are required to participate in an initial training via zoom prior to the festival and a kickoff meeting at the beginning of the week to ensure everyone is equipped to support a positive, inclusive and equitable experience for all.
  • For those of us with white, cis and other identity privilege...No matter where you are in your individual journey of anti-oppression (racism and white supremacy, transphobia, ableism, etc.) everyone has a role to play in our collective anti-oppression work and is responsible for their actions. So many of us feel drawn to festival culture because of the safety and healing it can bring. It is important to also acknowledge that not everyone in our community is afforded the same privilege. If you are given the gift of feedback that something you said or did has impacted someone negatively, aim to center the experience of the person harmed, especially when they are BIPOC, trans, and/or other identity or ability status that is subject to oppression. Utilize the CPR Reparative Model*—Calm Yourself, Practice Humility and Repair. https://www.accessmatters.org/cpr-the-racial-microaggressions-reparative-response-model/
