We have an exciting Storytelling Session planned this year in lieu of our regular research submissions. We are collecting 5-minute personal stories on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from NY-NJ MLA Chapter members only. Submit the draft of your story (600 words or less) by Sep 30, noon EST for consideration. To help you write your story, one storytelling instruction session, free to NY-NJ MLA members, will be held on Tuesday, Sep 15, from 2:00pm – 3:00pm EST, will be offered by Margot Leitman (register here).

A few stories (from 3-4 members) will be selected by our judges (Shannon Jones, Beverly Murphy, Brenda Linares, Jerry Perry, and Sarah Jewell) to be shared at our Annual Meeting (each member who is selected will receive a 60 min online coaching session from storyteller and author Margot Leitman during the week of Oct 4). Story submitters are agreeing to register and attend the NY-NJ MLA Chapter meeting, and share their story at the Annual Meeting on Friday, Oct 16, around 9:00am EST (if their piece is selected by judges).
