Air Cadets who intend to apply for the Glider Pilot Training Course (GPTC) or Power Pilot Training Course (PPTC) must complete the Air Cadet Online Ground School (OGS). This program ensures an effective and equitable approach to ground-school training for all Air Cadets across Canada. You can only apply for one of the two courses. See below for further details.

GPTC (Glider Pilot Training Course)

Minimum Age -  16 years of age by 1 Sep of year of activity participation
Proficiency Level -  Qualified Level 3 by 30 Jun
Minimum Grade Completed - Grade 9 or equivalent (Secondary 3/Senior)
Physical Limitations 
Minimum height 152.4 cm
Maximum height 190.5 cm

Minimum weight 40.82 kg
Maximum weight 90.72 kg

Previous Pilot Licence/Permit    Must not hold any TCCA pilot licence or permit. A TCCA Drone Pilot Certificate is not considered equivalent to a TCCA Pilot licence or permit.  
Return to Unit (RTUs) Must not have been RTU from PPTC/GPTC for lack of aptitude, motivation and/or application, misconduct, repeated air sickness, poor academic performance, failure on the TCCA written examination, failure to fly solo or failure to pass the final flight test.   ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 

PPTC (Power Pilot Training Course) 

Minimum Age - 17 years of age by 1 Sep of year of activity participation
Proficiency Level -   Qualified Level 4 by 30 Jun
Minimum Grade Completed -  Grade 10 or equivalent (Secondary 4/Senior 2)
Physical Limitations -  Maximum weight 111.13 kg 
Previous Pilot Licence/Permit    Must not hold any TCCA pilot licence or permit other than a glider pilot licence. A TCCA Drone Pilot Certificate is not considered equivalent to a TCCA Pilot licence or permit.
