We are in the midst of a global health crisis that has implications for even the most established and assured parts of our daily routine, including mikveh. In keeping with our organizational mandate to improve the mikveh experience, and to promote the spiritual, physical and emotional health of women and the family, The Eden Center is pleased to release this early version of a crowdsourcing platform for the mikveh – a way to share our voices, to protect the health of both tovlot and attendants, and to ensure the continued safety of tevilla.
Given the challenges we are currently facing, and with women’s health and safety top priority, it’s imperative that there be transparency about the compliance of mikvaot with Ministry of Health guidelines, so that the mikveh can be a space in which women continue to feel safe. Social vigilance and mechanisms for input and feedback are key in this process.
The Eden Center crowdsourcing platform includes directed questions about matters of particular importance in the current moment, but also space for personal reflections and recommendations. We invite you to share your experiences at the mikveh – both positive and concerning – toward empowering others to make informed choices.
Please use the platform “b'Emunah,” in the spirit of a female community that wants to support and protect one another, and provide mikvaot the opportunity and motivation to improve the invaluable service we’ve come to appreciate. The Eden Center will not be administering or monitoring the comments, but rather relying on women to provide trustworthy information.
Please remember that Ministry of Health guidelines are subject to change, and The Eden Center will shift our own recommendations accordingly. We know that many mikveh attendants are doing their best to stay updated in this new reality, and compliance with guidelines should be expected to evolve, so please carefully note dates on posts.
