This is the student nomination form for the AAUW National Tech Trek Program at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Tech Trek will be held June 9-15, 2024 on the UAH campus.
When considering who to nominate, it is important for you to understand what happens at Tech Trek so the schedule from 2023 is included for your reference below. Campers will be assigned a core class in which they will spend ~16 hours throughout the week so that they can explore a topic in depth. During this core class, they will be expected to use math and science concepts they have used in school while being exposed to some new concepts. They will also participate in a variety of workshops designed to make them aware of the variety of found in STEM fields. One of the highlights of the week is Professional Women's Night on Thursday when they are able to discuss the journeys of multiple successful STEM practitioners. It's not all work, we do rent out an entire trampoline park on Wednesday night, and encourage socializing between all the campers, the college age counselors, the teachers, and other camp staff. For the health and safety of all, we have a health aide that is available 24/7.
The deadline for nominations is February 7, 2024.
Nominees must be female and currently finishing the 7th grade in the spring of 2024 and entering the 8th grade in the fall of 2024. There may be no more than 5 nominees per school. Multiple teachers participating in the nomination process should agree upon the 5 students nominated.
Only one student nomination may be entered per form. You may use the link again to enter additional nominees.
NOTE: The AAUW National Tech Trek Program seeks to be diverse and inclusive in its outreach. It is a priority that girls are selected who may not have exposure to inspiring STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programs. Please take into account when nominating each girl what you know about her and whether she would truly benefit from this experience.
