Boston Candidate Science Survey Interest Form
In the lead up to the 2021 Boston City Council and Mayoral election, Boston University STEPUP (Science Policy Student Group) and Engineers and Scientists Acting Locally are working to develop a science policy questionnaire for candidates for city council and the mayoral seats. This effort is similar to the Science Debate (https://sciencedebate.org/), which sent out a survey to all candidates for statewide office after the primaries to understand their positions and plans for addressing a wide range of science-related issues, including STEM education, the role of science in their approach to their job, healthcare, immigration, artificial intelligence, and climate change.

The goal of this effort is to provide voters with information on candidates’ positions on science policy issues important to Bostonians.

We are looking to develop a list of 10-15 questions total for the Boston Mayoral and City Council candidates related to the following topics:
General science (e.g. how they envision using science in their job)
Health
STEM education
Environment
Energy

Please use this form to suggest any questions or topics related to science policy that you are particularly interested in.

We will publish the candidates’ answers on a website (www.bostonsciencesurvey.com coming soon) as well as host events to discuss the answers with voters. This website will have the answers from the survey as well as what each candidate has said about science policy issues in their campaign so far.

Please let us know if you would like to volunteer or want to be informed of the results of this effort.
