Newark Public Library Teen Room Agreement

This form states the Newark Public Library's Conduct Policy and Teen Room Policy, which applies to both inside and outside library property a signed agreement with a guardian that agrees their child will adhere to these policies to the best of their ability while having the privilege to attend the teen room.  Those failing to adhere to these policies should expect to face consequences including but not limited to suspension of library privileges and potential legal action.  Each minor will have 5 days to have a guardian review and submit this form and will not be permitted to use the teen room until this form is properly filled out, submitted, and reviewed by staff.

Teen Room Policies
  • The teen room has a maximum capacity of 12 teens ages 11 - 17
  • All teens must be signed at the desk
  • Bags will be turned over and stored behind the desk while in the teen room
  • There will be no loitering in the teen room
  • Bullying of any kind is NOT tolerated
  • No foul or inappropriate language, including discussing violence
  • No food and beverage by the computers
  • Excessive Public Displays of Affection (PDA) are not allowed
  • No fighting, rough-housing, yelling, or throwing things
  • Headphones must be used when playing music, video games, etc.
  • Clean up after yourselves, library based on a carry-in and carry-out policy
  • Respect the library, materials, peers, and staff inside the library
  • Photo I.D. on file with the library is required to use the teen room
I give the library permission to photograph said minor and maintain a copy on file for identification and emergency purposes. I understand that in an event of an emergency this photograph may be shared with law enforcement or other first responders. *
