For decades, the Shaker Historical Society has provided internships to high school and college students who care about local history.
In 2020, SHS board and staff made a commitment to pay all interns to make the museum a more equitable and practical option for students looking to gain hands-on experience at a small non-profit. Welcoming interns not only helps our small museum accomplish more but also provides a supportive environment for young people exploring their career options. It's a win-win situation!
An internship stipend ranges from $3,000-$5,000 depending on duration of internship. While our paid internships are often made possible through grants, we have also received generous support from local donors. If you would like to sponsor a future internship as a grant match or in its entirety, please complete this form. An SHS employee will contact you if an upcoming internship is a good match with your sponsorship interests.
