Florida Museum of Natural History, to explore several museums of the
Smithsonian like never before. Visit the National Museum of Natural
History, National Museum of the American Indian, National Museum of American
History, National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the
Library of Congress. We will meet with leadership and staff of these important
national institutions, including behind-the-scenes tours.
Students will gain an understanding of the important work
that goes into carrying for the millions of specimens and objects in these
museums as well as the different audiences that these museums serve, including
researchers and the public. We will confront the challenges faced by modern
museums and discuss the opportunities in the 21st Century for
museums to reach even broader audiences.
