Hours: 7:00am-8:45am and/or 1:30pm-6:00pm for Program operation, plus 8:45am-10:30am for Administrative duties. Program follows the Kingston City School District Schedule for all holidays, delays and closings.
Job Description: The Director is responsible for overseeing the program located at the Meagher Pre-K. The Director will work with the Assistant Teachers to provide a program of fun and educational enrichment activities to Pre-K aged students in a play-based before and after school care setting. Such activities include indoor and outdoor gross motor activities and games, serving healthy snacks, arts and crafts activities, reading and language activities, song and dance, puzzles, games and STEAM activities.
The Director is also responsible for maintaining appropriate classroom records, implementing and following OCFS guidelines, conducting and documenting monthly safety drills, creating snack menu, shopping and maintaining records pertaining to CACFP(food program), liaison with Meagher Pre-K and Kingston City School District, communicating with parents via Brightwheel and in-person, and helping with the set-up, break-down and tidiness of program space and materials.
Minimum Qualifications: Director should have:
(i) a Bachelor’s degree, including or in addition to 12 credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field; one year of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program; and one year of experience supervising staff in a child care program or a related field of work; or
(ii) a New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential; one year of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program; and one year of experience supervising staff in a child care program or a related field of work; or
(iii) an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood or related field, with a plan of study leading to a Bachelor’s degree or a New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential; two years of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family daycare home or other early childhood program; and two years of experience supervising staff in a child care program or a related field of work; or
(iv) a Child Development Associate Credential or other Office-recognized credential, with a plan of study leading to a Bachelor’s degree or a New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential; two years of full time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program; and two years of experience supervising staff in a child care program or a related field of work.
Also must meet all New York State Licensing requirements for child care staff, including fingerprinting, criminal background check and mandatory training.
