SoulWork READY is a practice-based intensive for performing artists and performance practitioners* interested in community, inclusion, equity and justice.
SoulWork Studio invites applications for a 5-day intensive that explores what it means for artists to be "READY" for collaboration that creates positive, change-making experiences for audiences and with communities. SoulWork READY offers an introduction to SoulWork Ethics, Theory and Key Principles of Cultural Conservatory, The Call, Living in Call and Response, and Unending Climax to nurture connections between social consciousness and creative impulse for performers. Participants will also learn how to engage SoulWork practices of "Ritual, Repetition, Rehearsal" as an ongoing (vs. product-driven) studio practice to explore the questions, such as:
- How can performers embody and enact freedom as a generative, creative practice? Is it possible to embody freedom when social, cultural and political freedom for all has not been realized?
- What is the impact of cultural identity and influence on developing our artistic practice, performance patterns, creativity, contributions?
- How can I stay creatively vibrant, connected to my training and artistic practice even when I am not working on a project/product?
There is ready...and then there is SoulWork READY!
