Wattpad Survey

Researcher--

My name is Brianna Joy Crump (@briannajoycrump on Wattpad) and I am in graduate school studying Writing. For my degree, I must complete a project that includes a study. For my project, I will be looking at how Wattpad is impacting its users.



Purpose of the Survey--

This survey will be used as a way to collect data on how Wattpad is being found and utilized by adult users. This data will show an  unbiased reflection of how certain Wattpad features are contributing to the Wattpad experience (features such as in-line comments, private messaging, announcement boards, user-created contests, and user reading lists). My goal is to see how the connection between readers and writers is changing the creative writing process.



Procedure of the Study/Time Requirement--

For this study, I will be collecting data from Wattpad users between the ages of 18 and 25.
This survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes to take. There will be multiple-choice and short answer questions.



Voluntary Participation--

Participation in this study is voluntary. You also have the right to refuse to answer any question(s) for any reason without penalty. The information that you give in the study will be handled confidentially. Your data will be anonymous which means that your name will not be collected or linked to the data. There are no anticipated risks in this study. You will receive no payment for participating in the study. You have the right to withdraw from the study at any time without penalty by exiting the survey. Data from this study will not be used or distributed for future research studies.


There are no anticipated risks in this study. In this survey, you will have the option to skip any questions that you may not want to answer. You will also have the option to stop the survey at any time. I do not work for Wattpad and no information given in this survey will be reported to Wattpad. No personal information (name, age, username...) will be collected.

The answers to this survey will be password protected on Google Forms.

The data collected in this survey may be used in my graduate capstone and may be viewed by the faculty of the Gardner-Webb University Department of English Language and Literature. This data may be used in the future for  publication in an academic journal.
