The DetroitData Community Open Data Portal intends to be a free and open resource for the whole Detroit community. In that spirit, we are seeking community members to advise project members and volunteers in the design, promotion, and future directions of the tool.
There will be at least four full-board meetings per year held once a quarter. Board members may choose to have additional small group meetings or to form taskforces around specific issue areas.
Board members will have opportunities to meet new people, stay informed of new data and information about the city, and make a difference in the data narrative of Detroit.
The charge of the board will be to:
- Communicate information about DetroitData to communities, including encouraging groups to share their data (Ambassadors)
- Collect and communicate timely community feedback and suggestions regarding the development, implementation, and evaluation of programming (Evaluators)
- Hold the project accountable for meeting agreed upon goals and commitments (Gatekeepers)
- Build partnerships to develop the DetroitData's capacity to meet community needs (Advocates)
