Architectural Design: Systems & Materials and Architectural Design: Environments & Mediations are both required introductory studios in the architecture major. There are no prerequisites and either course can be taken first by students interested in our major. 

Current and prospective architecture majors are given priority for enrollment in this course. Students who are architecture minors, concentrators, or non-majors are instead encouraged to apply for Introduction to Architectural Design & Visual Culture, which is a studio course designed specifically for minors and non-majors.

Please note that our department will only review applications and process admissions during the following weeks, with priority given to those who apply and join the waitlist in April.

Admission is at the discretion of the department and instructor. If an instructor or the department admits a student from the waitlist, their status on SSOL will change to "Approved." The transition from the waitlist to the class list will occur automatically overnight.
 After August 30, 2024, students who remain on the waitlist for any of our courses must attend the first class session and speak with the instructor to inquire about available spots.
