Ama Baseball’s support is like Hanwha… Hanwha is coming after 4 years
It is absolutely not a lie to say that the Hanwha Eagles are the real entity that supports Chungcheong baseball. Hanwha Eagles will host the 35th Hanwha Eagles Championship. Hanwha will hold the '35th Hanwha Electric Elementary, Middle and High School Baseball Tournament' at four stadiums, including Daejeon Hanwha Life Eagles Park, starting on the 22nd.

The Hanwha Train Charge Baseball Tournament has been held since 1986, the year the club was founded, to develop amateur baseball and expand the baseball base in the region. This Hanwha Train Charging Baseball Tournament was suspended due to COVID-19 after the 34th tournament in 2019, but resumed after 4 years and marks the 35th this year.

The competition will be held in a tournament format for 5 days from October 22nd to 26th, with 8 elementary school teams, 9 middle school teams, and 7 high school teams participating. The competition award ceremony will be held after the elementary, middle and high school finals at Hanwha Eagles Seosan Stadium on the 26th, and baseball supplies worth a total of 10 million won will be awarded to the winning and runners-up teams.

The Hanwha Eagles Championship is one of the biggest events in Chungcheong baseball, as big as the national championship. Above all, the Chungcheong region has good baseball facilities, so they are active in participating in local baseball competitions. Every year, Hanwha rents Hanwha Life Eagles Park for Ama Baseball. It is the only professional team. Hanwha Life Insurance is willing to lend Eagles Park to not only high school baseball All-Star and college baseball All-Star games, but also high school weekend leagues.

Cheongju Stadium, located nearby, is also a good enough baseball stadium for high school players to use. The same goes for Seosan Baseball Stadium, used by Hanwha Future Team. In many ways, the conditions are good to host the Ama Baseball Tournament.

The climatic aspect is also good. October is the month in which the fall league season takes place. Climate-wise, the metropolitan area is too cold to play baseball from late October to November. However, the Chungcheong region has the optimal conditions for playing baseball at the end of October, so the fall league is bound to become more active.

The Hanwha Train Charging Competition has not been held for more than three years due to the coronavirus. However, many players were discovered through this competition. A representative player is Park Chan-hyuk (Kiwoom). Park Chan-hyuk hit a come-from-behind 3-run home run in the last match held at Hanwha and was named MVP. That's not all. Young players such as Lee Young-bin (LG), Yang Kyung-mo (Hanwha), Lee Jae-hee (Samsung), Moon Hyun-bin (Hanwha), and Ko Myung-jun (SSG) are all players who stood out in the competition. To that extent, the Hanwha Eagles have established themselves as the birthplace of Chungcheong baseball.

The coach of a school participating in the competition said, “It is a very good competition. “It was unfortunate that the tournament could not be held for a while due to the coronavirus, but I sincerely hope that the Hanwha Eagles will continue to host such tournaments in the future.”

Above all, recently, the level of baseball teams in the Chungcheong region has improved significantly, with Daejeon High School (2023 President's Cup) and Bukil High School (2022 Shinsegae E-Mart Cup) winning the national championship and Se-Gwang High School taking second place (2023 Bonghwangdaegi), making this competition as well. We expect it to be a very high-level competition.

In addition to baseball competitions, Hanwha Eagles is carrying out various activities to expand the base of baseball and develop local amateur baseball, such as providing baseball supplies to local elementary, middle and high school baseball teams and hosting events to invite schools that have won national competitions.
