Return Preference for Instruction for 2020-21
Parents and Guardians,
As we finalize the instructional plans for our school, we will be using the guidance set forth by the Oconto County Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), including social distancing and daily health checks. We know that school will look different and some families may be apprehensive about sending their children back to school during this pandemic. Knowing this, we will be offering options for instruction for all students. To best prepare for your child, please complete a survey for each student that will attend OUSD for the 2020-2021 school year to indicate your choice for your child’s instruction. This will help us with our staffing needs and instructional planning.
Option 1: Traditional in Classroom Learning
Students will attend school 5 days each week within the traditional classroom. Every effort will be made to minimize size of groups and mixing of students. There will be mitigation efforts done with screening, distancing and cleaning.
Option 2: Virtual Learning
Selecting this option means your child will learn at home. Remote instruction will be provided online by Oconto teachers or through our partnership with Ed Options Academy. Teachers will use the Oconto Unified Aligned Curriculum platform to provide virtual learning for students. This platform will align with regular school hours unless programs dictate other time schedules. The rigor and grading will also align with face to face expectations. This commitment is one semester at at time. Case by case considerations to move through programs will be considered by administration.
We will continue to monitor all of the information and guidelines being provided to us from the Oconto County Public Health and CDC. We will provide updates throughout the summer as new information becomes available.
Please know all of our plans and decisions are in the best interest of the health and safety of our students and staff along with continuous learning that all students need.
Please complete this survey by August 5th. Parents will need to secure their child's instruction option by August 14th.
