How can I sell my book at Roundabout?

Roundabout Books is a small, 2,000 sq. ft. bookstore and café with very limited shelf space. Our book selection is highly curated and all books on our shelves have been carefully selected. Due to the volume and frequency of requests for our staff to review, we have established the following guidelines and criteria for reviewing book submissions.
Authors wishing to be considered for our consignment program, must complete this form before their book will be considered. Completion of this form does not guarantee your book will be stocked at Roundabout Books. All consignment stock is at the discretion of Roundabout Books staff.

Please allow up to four (4) weeks for reply. Due to the needs of our store and the additional responsibilities of our consignment manager, we ask that you give us adequate time to consider all guidelines of your request.

We do not accept any books that are dropped off. If you leave an unsolicited book, it will go into the donation pile.

The book’s subject matter must appeal widely to our customers’ interests and not be deemed inappropriate.

The book must be well-edited; books containing misspelled words or poor grammar will not be considered.

The overall quality of the construction and presentation of the book (cover, spine, print, pages, etc.) must be comparable to mainstream publishing standards.

The book must have an ISBN and barcode. We prefer it also has a retail price listed.

The author must live locally full-time and year-round, where “local” is defined as any place within a fifty-mile radius of Bend, Oregon. Exceptions may be made for non-local authors whose subject material is of local interest on a case-by-case basis.

RAB will donate to nonprofits those books left here by authors for more than a month after authors have been contacted to pick up their books.

If applicable, shipping charges are the responsibility of the consignor.

RAB will only pay for items that were sold.

Damaged or stolen items are the sole financial responsibility of the consignor.

Our consignment policy is a standard 50/50 split of the retail price, plus a one-time admin fee of $25.

RAB agrees to carry books on a consignment basis for 6 months. During that period, RAB may contact the consignor to request additional quantitates for sale.

We review consignment sales quarterly.

We complete consignment payouts bi-annually (January & August).

Completion of this form does not guarantee your book will be stocked at Roundabout Books. All consignment stock is at the discretion of Roundabout Books staff.
